Virginia Tech® home

Mission

Webster Santos, Ph.D.

The Faculty of Health Sciences seeks to promote the continued growth, improvement, and integration of biomedical and health sciences research and educational programs at Virginia Tech. The program serves as an organizational home for faculty members in biomedical and health-science-related fields who are appointed based on the strength of their research, teaching, outreach activities, and/or administrative accomplishments, responsibilities, and interests. The Faculty of Health Sciences also serves as the organizational home for the university’s interdisciplinary graduate programs in biomedical and health sciences.

The Faculty of Health Sciences is a key product of the 2012-2018 strategic plan, A Plan for a New Horizon: Envisioning Virginia Tech, which reaffirmed Virginia Tech’s commitment to achieving excellence as a comprehensive land-grant university that makes innovative contributions in learning, discovery, and engagement to the commonwealth of Virginia, the nation, and the world. Notably, the plan called for the creation of academic organizational frameworks designed to advance research and graduate education and foster innovative and synergistic interactions among Virginia Tech faculty.
